Car

Freight cars, tenders, cabooses, and other non-powered rolling stock.

airHosePosition

float[3] = [-0.345, 0.877, 0.1]

Air brake hose attachment point [x, y, z].

basePrice

int

Purchase price in dollars.

baseRoadNumber

string = 100000

Default road number.

bolsterInsetFront

float = 0

Front coupler pivot to front truck center (meters). Non-zero on either inset switches the car to authored truck positions and makes length derived. See Car Geometry.

bolsterInsetRear

float = 0

Rear coupler pivot to rear truck center (meters). See Car Geometry.

Brake rigging animation clips.

Builder photo asset.

carType

string

AAR car type code (e.g. "XM", "HM", "FL"). The code prefix determines gameplay classification. See Car Types for the full list.

couplerHeight

float = 0.8

Coupler height above rail (meters).

defaultProperties

object = null

Initial values seeded into the car’s properties when it’s instantiated, before any per-instance overrides are applied.

length

float

Coupler pivot to coupler pivot (meters). Derived from the bolster insets when either is set. See Car Geometry.

Cargo capacity slots.

maximumCurveDegrees

float = 23

Tightest curve this car can navigate, in degrees of curvature (higher = tighter). Defaults to 23 (medium) when omitted.

Reference to the car’s 3D model.

When true, a car of this definition is only ever painted in a scheme that names it in carIdentifiers — when it spawns, when the player buys one, and in the Customize window’s Paint Scheme dropdown. Set it when you ship a car with its own paint schemes.

styles

object = null

Built-in base styles for this car — a selector-to-properties map in the same shape as a CarStyle’s styles field. This is the lowest layer of the style cascade: merged underneath any paint scheme and inline /style set overrides. See Styles for the full cascade.

Identifier of the Truck definition to use.

Distance between truck centers (meters). See Car Geometry.

visibleInPlacer

bool = true

Show in the equipment placer UI.

Empty weight in pounds.

Each slot defines one cargo bay on the car.

loadUnits

LoadUnits = Pounds

Unit of measurement.

Maximum load amount.

requiredLoadIdentifier

string = null

Restrict to a specific load identifier.

volume

float = 0

Volume in cubic feet.
