The audio clip should contain a single bell recording: an initial strike, one or more middle rings, and a final ring-out. The indexes specify times (in seconds) where the clip is split into these segments. The first segment is played once as the bell starts, the middle segments loop for as long as the bell is ringing, and the final segment plays once as the bell stops.

For example, with indexes [0.875, 1.7, 2.55], the clip is split into four segments at those times. The first and last segments are the start and stop sounds; everything in between loops while the bell is ringing. More indexes means more loop segments to cycle through, adding variation.

If no indexes are provided, the entire clip loops as-is.

Players can select a bell sound per locomotive via the Customize window. Locomotive definitions can specify a default bell with the defaultBellIdentifier field on the Bell component. If not specified, steam locomotives default to rr/bell-cn-brass and diesel locomotives default to rr/bell-emd-bronze.
