PropertyAnimation

Poses an animation from one of the car’s numeric properties, such as the reverser or throttle. Use it for linkage that follows a control but isn’t something the player grabs: the power reverser on an articulated locomotive’s front engine, or valve gear that shifts with the reverser.

  • Kind: PropertyAnimation
  • Availability: Car

Animation clip to pose. The clip is never played; its time is set from the property.

key

string

Property to follow. Common keys are reverser (-1 full reverse to 1 full forward) and throttle (0 to 1). An empty key is reported as a warning when the pack loads.

maximum

float = 1

Property value that poses the end of the clip. Set it below minimum to run the clip the other way. Equal minimum and maximum are reported as a warning when the pack loads.

minimum

float = 0

Property value that poses the start of the clip.

Values outside the range hold the clip at its nearer end. When the property changes, the animation eases to its new pose at the same rate as a cab lever.

On an articulated locomotive, a component whose parent is inside an engine set takes its clips from that engine set’s AnimationMap. The editor’s animation list follows the parent too.

Animations on a model don’t add together. If a bone is keyed both in this clip and in another animation on the same model, such as the wheel and rod clip, only one of them moves it. Keep the bones this component moves out of other clips.

A front-engine power reverser that follows the cab reverser:
